Hi there,

I am working on a small tool which reads ESRI shape files and plot the shapes into the GMap,  any ideas how can I set the projection of the Gmap using the prj file?

Also, I am very new to Geo stuff..  can someone please explain to me what is the differences between the ESRI X,Y coordinates and the GMap Latitude/Longitude?

many thanks,

vtec

well you need to experiment, ..anyway why you need prj files?

becuase the shapefile I am trying to import has a PRJ file, which I assume is used to store the Projection coordinate.

I have managed to read the shapes within the Shape files. but they somehow appear in the WRONG place..  so I assume it has something to do with the projection?  or either I need to somehow convert the ESRI coordinate to GMAP lat/lng?

by the way..  cool project you have here, love it...

hi radioman. In the first thank you for this great project

i have the same problem

i need to load ESRI shape files  into Gmap

i get some tools to read .shp file content

like polygons coordinates into each shape

but when i tried to draw polygon (they somehow appear in the WRONG place)

as shown in attached image link

i don't now what the problem the polygon its like's need to rotate or some thing like that

i guess the projection will solve this problem but i don't know how?

so what is your projection, are you sure you get correct points?
