Routing Without Internet conection

May 13, 2010 at 2:32 PM

Hello all,

It's possible to use the routing feature without an internet conection. I have cached the area of my interest to use the applicaction without internet and I wondering if I could do that.

Othe posible way is to use the Garmin MapSource application with the maps I have, but it seem to be imposible to call mapsource from visual studio. It doesn't have any library or COM reference.

Anyone have an idea of what can I do?

Thanks :)

Regards

Hello radioman.

Maybe its posible. I have downloaded a OSM with the region of interest (unfortunately is not a very large region), but I don´t find any program that let me route with that file. Do you know any or how to do it?

Thanks for your reply.

pepitolanda,

you can't do it for now, because the map is a raster, not a vector map

There is a Java application that you feed with OpenStreetMap data and lets you create either CSV or GPX files from commandline given start and end coordinates.

However, I have tried to get it working but it keeps crasching ;-). Perhaps someone else has better luck.
