Painting Map on Startup

I am writing an MDI application that uses Tab Controls. The GMap control is in tab #3.

Using debug output, I know that the routine that sets-up the map control is running, but the map does not actually display until the tab for its page is selected. This presents the user with a blank area for a couple seconds before the map is actually seen.

I have been trying different ways to force the map to paint without having to select the tab, but with no luck.

So I would like to know if I can force GMap to paint the map "in the blind" or is this just how things work in Tab Controls?

Let me clarify something.... I know I'm not supposed to see the map without selecting the tab for its page.

The problem is when I select the tab for the first time, the control is blank and it takes a few seconds for the map to paint on the control.

Does that make more sense?

you can try load form with visible = false, select tab 3, then select tab 1, and set visible = true
