Layers Visibility

Hi Radioman,

We had a discussion about visibility of layers (see http://gmap4dotnet.codeplex.com/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=54618).

You implemented layers after that. Now I want to create transparant layers. What approach do you think is preferred?

BTW: If you set IsVisible to false in the groundlayer, the tiles remain visible. Is this by design?

layers are for markers only, the map is allways in the background, what exactly do you want to achieve ?

I want to create a map with all customer locations, its territory and volume information. Basically a combination of a territory map (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choropleth_map) and bars as markers (graduated symbols).

With MapInfo I can decide what the underlaying map(s) is/are, but MapInfo is not very userfriendly to incorporate it in the application. Unfortunately the map suppliers GMap uses don't offer what labels/detail you want to see. In my test environment I used Google Terrain and painted the tiles (very) bright, which resulted in acceptable views. So if I can create a slider with brightness (or something that pushes the tiles further to the background) it would be ok.
