But that's loading a PNG file not a ESRI ShapeFile.

Actually I am interested in helping out with GMaps. However I have not experience in using CodePlex so I would'nt even know how to start. I have installed VisualHG and downloaded the sources but from there I have no clue. Should my local version sync with the server or what?

create fork, make changes, create feature, commit, and push to your fork.

You can use Catfood.shapefile, I have used and read all type of shapefile, it work fine.

I want to create some themes based on Shape files (eg: the more people live in a country the darker the country). As I try to avoid reinventing the wheel, someone has an example in this direction? Or how to read/display shapefiles fast?

Thanks in advance,

Frank

There is a simple solution. Download Geoserver, put you own maps in it and then use GMap using it as the server.

I don't know why but the vertical tile order was reversed compared to Google but I fixed it and it worked well.

Before the map provider existed I used this code to access a local geoserver instance rendering my shapefiles

I had to reverse the vertical tile order for this to work.

case MapType.LocalMap:

{

                char letter = "abc"[GetServerNum(pos, 3)];

 //Console.WriteLine((int)(Math.Pow(2, zoom)) - pos.Y);
                int value = (int)(Math.Pow(2, zoom)) - pos.Y-1;

                return string.Format("http://localhost:8080/geoserver/gwc/service/tms/1.0.0/test2@EPSG%3A900913@png/{0}/{1}/{2}.png", zoom, pos.X, value);

}

Added as someone just e-mailed me for it :)

Thank you so much. Worked for days, and got no solution for the tile server problem.
