Using a custom map

Hi,

Thanks for this great library!

I haven't found an answer yet to this question:

How would I use a custom map in GMap? For example I have a .jpg and I want to use this instead of the Google Maps tiles (which I obviously don't use ;-) ). Is there an "easy" way to do this?

Thanks!

hey,

you can add custom map only if the provider is tile based

Thanks for your quick answer!

Do you happen to know any tools that can convert a .jpg into tiles/a tile based provider?

From a technical point of view, you would need to assign LatLon coordinates to 3 points on this JPG map, so it has a geographical reference.

Thanks,

Tom

Something like "Google ground overlays" would be perfect to use GMap without google maps but a custom map: http://code.google.com/intl/nl-NL/apis/maps/documentation/mapplets/overlays.html#Ground_Overlays

As this would be "at most" one or 2 JPG images with limited resolution, performance won't be a problem IMHO.

Would this be feasable? Any hints on a possible implementation is appreciated!
